Abstract

The first of five diaries documents Waldo Schmitt's work in the Walter Rathbone Bacon Traveling Scholarship Expedition to the West Coast of South America, 1926-1927. Dates cover August 16, 1926 - October 19, 1926. Entries are headed by date and journal style. They discuss personal and professional activities, accommodations, interactions with colleagues, locations traveled, stories about places visited; and samples and specimens collected. Locations are throughout South America. Includes several botanical specimens. Locations in South American include the vicinity of Peru (Pacasmayo) and Ecuador (Guayquil).
