Abstract

This item is a logbook from Vema cruise 17 from April 14 to June 20, 1961 recording surface temperatures of the South Atlantic ocean from Punta Arenas, Chile to Buenos Aires, Argentina. Each sheet represents surface temperatures taken at various times on each day of the journey. These data logs record the following information: date, times, coordinates, course (°), surface temperature, and time zone. Some graphs are included at the end that describe volume of water filtered and wind force. Starting coordinates are close to 55.20 S, 70.24W off the coast of Punta Arenas and the ending coordinates are near 35.40.00S, 56.27W.
