Abstract

This field book contains a narrative account of Hubbard's collecting trip to Arizona and California from 1896-1897. Hubbard includes detailed descriptions of his travels and surroundings while collecting. His descriptions of collecting often note the specific location (including geological features) he collected, what surface the insect was found on (e.g. in or on a plant, under a log, on the ground), and what the insect was doing when it was captured. Insects collected include but are not limited to beetles (Coleoptera), scales and other Hemiptera, and Diptera. Locations Hubbard collected in include Tuscon, Yuma, Colorado River (Arizona side), Coronado Beach and other San Diego locations, Los Angeles, Palm Springs, and other locations.
