Abstract

In the loose sheets of paper, Caleb Kennerly records mammals observed August, September 1859 and December 1860 while serving with the Northwest Boundary Survey, 1857-1861. Some entries are lists of scientific names, others include a combination of: date, scientific or common name, specimen number, measurements, and sex. Interspersed are observations about appearance and how common the wildlife is in certain areas. Wildlife includes a variety of mammals and birds. Some entries are by date. Entries include gaps of time. Locations are throughout Washington with mentions are Skagit and Similkameen River.
