Abstract

This field book documents field research Hubbard conducted in Crescent city Florida between 5 September 1880 and 24 September 1881. During this trip, Hubbard collects insect pests causing damage to cotton, and possibly other crops. He describes these insects in his notes, sometimes including sketches, referring to their specimen numbers, and describing what part of the plan the insect was found and the damage the insect caused. Hubbard also includes notes on insects found in caves. Insects collected include but may not be limited to Diptera, Lepidoptera, bees (Bombus) and scales (Coccoidea). Hubbard was possibly accompanied by Charles V. Riley during this trip.
