Abstract

This field book is a diary Hubbard kept between 20 February and 3 June 1880 during a trip to collect insects, some of which were pests causing damage to cotton and possibly other crops. Notes from February to May center around collecting insects, especially beetles, on beaches and other locations near water. Notes from May to June center around Hubbard's inspections of plants for damage by insect pests, including some sketches and descriptions of what damage was done to the plant. Insects described include Lepidoptera, Diptera, Neuroptera, beetles (Coleoptera), and other insects. Hubbard collected in various locations in Florida including but not limited to Fort Pierce and Crescent City.
