Abstract

This field book contains a list of insect pests causing damage to cotton and possibly other crops collected during Hubbard's work for the United States Entomological Commission, 1880. Insects include Lepidoptera, Diptera, Neuroptera, and other types of insects. Collection numbers range from 1-98 and are also accompanied by "Riley's numbers" (Professor Charles V. Riley). Riley's numbers used are from the 2200s and 2300s. Often specimen listed will have a brief description, explanation of what part of the plant on which the insect was located, whether or not eggs, larva, or nests were found, and other details. The list does not seem to be chronological. Dates range roughly from May to September 1890.
