Abstract

This item is an unbound log of Vema cruise 11 from November-December 1956. Included in the front of the item is a table (photocopied) entitled "plankton samples from 11 Vema cruises. Vema 11 Bathythermograph observations, Columbia University, Nov. 1956 are also included in the front of the logs. The logs of Vema 11 contain the following data elements: cruise number, station number, date, type, 1M net in, out, 1M meter reading, 1/2M net in, out, 1/2M meter reading, coordinates, median local time, 1M length tow, 1/2M length tow, wire angle at depth, corrected depth, corrected depth, 1M displ. vol., 1/2M displ. vol., corrected displ. vol., vol. H20 filt. 1M, vol. H20 filt. 1/2M, comments, net clogged, net tears, No. bottles used, surface temp. (occasionally), and observer. One additional hand drawn table entitled "Bottom Grab", dated Sept. 1956, is included with this item. Tables, one undated and one dated Nov. 1956 recording several data elements, including est. depth and thermometers. Also, two pages entitled "Scattering layer observations V-11, Nov. 12-16, '56" are included in the back.
