Abstract

This field book contains notes from Hubbard's trip to the Cumberland Mountains of Virginia and Mammouth Cave in Kentucky between 15 June and 25 August 1879 to collect insects. Much of Hubbard's collecting in Cumberland were done in caves and in ravines. Hubbard's notes are narrative and contain descriptive information about where specimens were found (e.g. under a rock). Locations visited during this trip include Mammouth Cave in Kentucky and the Cumberland Mountains, Pennington Gap, Powell Mountain, Jones Creek and other locations in and near Lee County, Virginia.
