Abstract

This item consists of loose pages with data and correspondence relating to Vema cruise 10, and Theta cruise 1. Two notes from Thayer Willis to Allan Be from October 1959 seem to indicate that Willis is perhaps responsible for some of the data logs. Also included are two logs of plankton samples collected during Vema 10, one of which log samples collected by Bill Ludwig. These logs record the following data: date and time, sample number, depth, Vol. H20 filtered, total sample uncorrected displ. vol., displ. vol. per 1000M³, and coordinates, temperatures, condition of sea, and weather condition. There is also a separate log for mysidacea and euphausiacea samples. The rest of the logs cover Vema cruise 10 and Theta cruise 1. The Vema 10 logs contain the following data: cruise, station, date, net in, net out, position, equipment, depth tow, type tow, M³ H20 filtered, displacement vol., corrected depth, wire angle, comments, observer, Chaetognatha (species, #c, %s, #/10³M³, total chaets # supp.), and total zooplankton (group, #c, %s, #/10³M³, rank). Theta 1 logs contain the following data: cruise, date, station, type tow, net in, net out, coordinates, median local time, tow length, wire angle, corrected depth, displacement volume, and vol. H20 filtered.
