Abstract

This field book contains a mixture of field notes and miscellaneous notes probably taken when Hubbard was at Harvard. Pages are numbered 1 to 176, although many pages are blank. A brief specimen list dated 16 July 1870 of bumble bees (bombus) and a coleoptera numbered 5550, 5551, 5579, and 5643 are included. Notes entitled "Journal trip to White Fish Point L. Y., 1878" are also included. Notes from Whitefish Point, Michigan, dated 20 June to 7 July 1878 include a narrative account of collecting insects (especially beetles and moths) on the beach. Additional notes taken in 1870 and 1871 on beetles (coleopetera), Lepidoptera, Diptera are also included. Among these notes are notes entitled "Larva undetermined and insects of all stages not classified". Also included are "Notes on describing coleopteran march 25 1871".
