Description

This collection contains 7 field books from the Wallace R. Ernst Papers, 1946-1971, Smithsonian Institution Archive collection RU 7096. Ernst created these field books between 1956 and 1965, and they document his collecting activities in California, Baja California, Dominica, Mexico. Descriptions of documents such as correspondence and lists of specimen that related to these field books are available in the Finding Aid found in the "Related Materials" section of this record. Those documents are not cataloged in this database. Five of Ernst's field books cover various locations in California, one of which also includes notes from Isla Guadalupe off of Baja California, Mexico. Two of the California field books also include notes from Oregon. Geographic locations listed in this record do not include a comprehensive list of locations noted within the field books.
