Description

This collection consists of one notebook contains data compiled by Herwil McClure Bryant in the course of his work for the United States Antarctic Service Expedition of 1940-1941. The item includes specimen numbers 1-408. Dated entries typically note scientific name (if known), locality, and growing conditions. Most localities are in the vicinity of "East Base." Locality information sometimes includes longitude and latitude. The notebook includes data on lichens and mosses (specimen numbers 1-78 and 199-203); marine algae (specimen numbers 99-103; flowering plants (specimen numbers 150-174), and fresh water algae (specimen numbers 175-200).
