Description

The three volumes document the collection documenting freshwater invertebrates (e.g. copepods, cladocera, fairy shrimp) of David G. Frey. The collection as a whole is comprised of multiple collectors (colleagues) and their collections, 1889 - 1985. Collecting sites were from inland lakes and ponds, sometimes temporary pools. The collection was created under the auspices of the Department of Invertebrate Zoology, National Museum of Natural History. Locations are from around the world, most sites were in North America. Collectors of note include Mildred Wilson, James Lynch, and Edward Asahel Birge. The first volume is primarily from Europe. The last volume is primarily comprised of Frey's own specimens.
