Description

The collection contains the field notes of paleontologist William Albert Oliver, 1946 - 1998. Notes cover work he conducted during his years at Cornell University, work for U.S. Geological Survey, and with the New York State Geological Association. Oliver collected widely, and his field notes document his work primarily in New York, but also Illinois, Pennsylvania, Kentucky, Indiana, New Jersey; Ontario, Canada; and much of Europe. He first traveled to eastern Europe when he received a Fulbright award to study in Czechoslovakia, and then subsequently returned 1969 - 1970, 1976 - 1979. Volumes often provide summaries of field trips which list names of colleagues and their affiliations, dates, and destinations.
