Description

This collection consists of the field books and photographs of Robert E. Silberglied from field work conducted on Barro Colorado Island (Panama), the Galapagos Islands (Ecuador), Costa Rica, Mexico, and the United States (including Florida, Arizona, and several other states). Materials include field books and black-and-white photographs. Field books contain mixed materials including maps, charts, graphs, sketches, and postcards. Books seemed to have been used by Silberglied to document collecting activities as well as experiment data collection, personal diary entries and reflections, and general notes.|Silberglied conducted many experiments involving collection of UV data by photography. Many of the notes include camera and film settings for collecting the data.|Several folders of photographs, negatives, and contact prints are included in Record United 007316, but were not cataloged. This includes black-and-white photographs of butterfly specimens, probably taken in a lab, and other subjects deemed out of scope.
