Description

This accession consists of notebooks documenting Frank C. Whitmore's travels and research. Of the 22 notebooks within this collection, only seven contain field notes. Furthermore, the field notes within the five notebooks are brief and interspersed with miscellaneous notes. Field notes document the collection or observation of bones and possibly other specimens from the Pleistocene, Miocene, and other time periods. The other notebooks within this collection are not described at the item level within this registry and contain mostly itinerary information, expense lists, meeting notes, notes on current events, and personal notes. Many of these notes document work Whitmore conducted from the United States Geological Survey (USGS).
