Description

This collection record describes only the field catalogs and field research notes within this collection. For information on other notes, lists, catalogs, drawings, and manuscripts on mollusks in this collection, see the Smithsonian Institution Archives finding aid under the "Related Materials" section of this record. Much of the material relates to specimens in the Division of Mollusks, National Museum of Natural History. The collection includes list of Florida shells collected for the Smithsonian Institution by Henry Hemphill, circa 1884; a report on a voyage from Washington, D. C., to South Carolina by Robert Platt, United States Navy, undated; and a catalog of shells collected in Florida by Robert Edwards Carter Stearns, 1869; and other notes.
