Description

These papers include journals, field books, memoranda books, and zoological notes kept by Kennerly while serving with the United States-Mexican Boundary Survey, 1855-1857, and the Northwest Boundary Survey, 1857-1860. Also included is a copy of a letter from G. Simpson to Joseph Henry, December 10, 1857, concerning arrangements for the transportation of specimens collected by the Northwest Boundary Survey. In a few instances, notes kept on both the United States-Mexican Boundary Survey and Northwest Boundary Survey appear in the same journal. Notes made by George Gibbs, geologist and interpreter for the Northwest Boundary Commission, are contained in a few of the journals.
