Description

This collection consists of the field books of Robert W. Read. The field books document Read's botanical collecting work in the United States, Central and South America, the Caribbean, and Asia, between 1968 and 1995. Locations include: Panama, Mexico, Brazil, Jamaica, Costa Rica, Dominica, Martinique, Grenada, Sri Lanka, Arizona, Hawaii, and Florida. Read's field notes tend to include entries for specimens collected, narrative descriptions of vegetation and landscape, and general notes. Specimen labels are often included near related entries. Sometimes, plant specimens can be found pressed between the pages of the book or taped in to the book.
