Description

This collection consists of 103 field books created by Thomas R. Soderstrom from 1958 to 1987. The field books document Soderstrom's collections of plants (primarily bamboo) in North America, South America, Africa, and Asia. Locations include but are not limited to: United States, Mexico, Brazil, Puerto Rico, Guyana, Suriname, Colombia, India, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Myanmar, Nepal, and Madagascar.|The items include diary-type field books that include travel information (including itineraries), and entries documenting daily activities, colleagues and contact information, research notes and citations, and lists of photographs. Collecting books kept by Soderstrom consist of plant lists. Entries in the latter tend to include long physical descriptions of specimens, and many entries are accompanied by sketches of specimens.
