Biographical History

Robert B. Neuman was born February 29, 1920. He was a geologist and paleontologist who specialized in the study of brachiopods. Neuman earned his Bachelors from University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, and Ph.D. from Geology from Johns Hopkins University (1949). He joined the U.S. Geological Survey in 1949 and remained until his retirement in 1985. During much of his career he studied the geology of northern Maine, including localities in Penobscot county. He passed away in Canton, Massachusetts, on May 24, 2013.
