Biographical History

Rubey worked as a scientific liaison to the U.S. Army for the U.S. Geological Survey during World War II. Later he would serve as president of the Geological Society of America, chairman of the National Research Council for the National Academy of Sciences, and board member on the National Science Board for the National Science Foundation. Rubey was a professor of geology and geophysics at UCLA.
