Description

The Gorgas Memorial Laboratory was established in Panama as part of Gorgas Memorial Institute of Tropical and Preventive Medicine in 1921, named for Dr. William Crawford Gorgas, best known for his work on yellow fever and its prevention in the Panama Canal Zone. The facilities were run by the United States until 1990.
