What do you do?
I am part of the Smithsonian Institution Archives’ Digital Services Division, and I specialize in digitizing images and videos in the Archives’ collections for reference requests and use on the web.
Favorite spot in DC to recommend to visitors:
I recommend going to the US Botanical Gardens because no matter what time of year you visit DC, there is always something gorgeous in bloom there, and the grounds are also lovely. I also suggest checking out the Smithsonian American Art Museum. They have some really neat exhibits, and even if you’re not into art, there is a huge glass atrium in the middle that is great for people watching.
Collection favorites:
My favorite collection right now is the Black Aviators Video History Collection, because the interviewees share some incredible stories of overcoming adversity, while still managing to highlight some of the more humorous events that occurred during their careers.
