What do you do?
As the American Women's History Initiative Digital Curator at the Smithsonian Institution Archives, I create digital resources and exhibitions about the history of women in science at the Smithsonian. The Smithsonian is one of first science institutions in the United States, so my research and curatorial work explores how American women have shaped scientific institutions and practice from the late nineteenth century to today.
Favorite spot in DC to recommend to visitors:
Rock Creek Park, especially the Valley Trail.

I'm a historian of American philanthropy, so I love records that help explain the Smithsonian's unique role in inspiring the formation of future philanthropic institutions. In particular, Smithsonian Institution Annual Reports tell this history. For information about national institutions that preceded the Smithsonian, I like the Columbian Institute Records and the National Institute Records.
