Each Monday, sit back, relax, and ease into the work week with puzzles created from images in our collections that have been designated as open access. Anyone can now download, transform, share, and reuse these images as part of Smithsonian Open Access, launched in 2020.
Founded in 1849, the Smithsonian International Exchange Service assisted international and national literary and scientific institutions by disseminating and exchanging publications. Beginning in the 1880s, it was responsible for the official exchange of government publications between the United States and foreign countries. The Service finally closed in 1992 due to the rise of information exchange through the internet.
