This accession includes records produced and/or maintained by Harold D. Langley, which date from when he was Curator of the Division of Armed Forces History, 1984- , and the Division of Naval History, prior to 1984. The records consist of correspondence documenting Langley's preparations for the research and eventual publication of "So Proudly We Hail: The History of the United States Flag " (1981), a history of United States flags; Admiral William Rea Furlong's original flag history manuscript, which Langley used in his research and edited; the final manuscript of the publication "So Proudly We Hail: The History of the United States Flag;" original copy of Langley's paper "The Problems of Early Flag Research," which he presented at the North American Vexillogical Meeting held at the National Museum of History and Technology in 1977, and photographs of Langley at this event; memoranda of the Board of Academic Studies; and subject files. Some materials date to when the museum was known at the Museum of History and Technology and the National Museum of History and Technology respectively.

This accession consists of records produced and/or maintained by Harold D.
