Mimicking the plot of the film of the same name, security officer Larry must retreive an ancient Egyptian tablet from the Smithsonian and defeat the evil and power-hungry Kahmunrah.
The player drives any of several different vehicles around open world maps modeled on real-life cities. Midtown Madness 3 recreates the cities of Paris and Washington, D.C. in the game.
The main story takes place in the year 2277, where players take control of an inhabitant of Vault 101, one of several underground shelters created before the Great War to protect around 1,000 humans from the nuclear fallout, who is forced to venture out into the Capital Wasteland to find their father after he disappears from the Vault under mysterious circumstances. They find themselves seeking to complete their father's work while fighting against the Enclave, the corrupt remnants of the former U.S. Government that seeks to use it for their own purposes.
It is set in a near-future Washington, D.C. in the aftermath of a genetically engineered virus known as "Green Poison" being released, and follows an agent of the Strategic Homeland Division as they try to rebuild the city.
Based on a book called The Selected Works of T.S. Spivet: A Novel, it’s the story of young T.S. Spivet, a cartography prodigy, who is asked by the Smithsonian Institution to give a speech about his work. Unbeknownst to his parents, he takes off from Montana to deliver the speech.
