DESCRIPTIVE ENTRY
These records primarily document the activities of Janet W. Solinger, former
Director of the Smithsonian Resident Associate Program, in her capacity as
Director of Special Projects in the Office of the Assistant Secretary for
External Affairs. Materials include correspondence, memoranda, and reports
describing her involvement in several projects and initiatives, such as
seminars, festivals, performances, and professional organizations. Also
included are memoranda and reports concerning the restructuring of the
Resident Associate Program, Solinger's reassignment, and her departure from
the Smithsonian in December 1993. The records also contain Solinger's
correspondence files for 1993, and miscellaneous correspondence dating from
1979. The bulk of the material was created in 1992 and 1993, but some items
date from 1977.
