Summary

National Collection of Fine Arts (NCFA), now the Smithsonian American Art Museum (SAAM), Alcove of the Smithsonian Centennial Exhibition in the Foyer (lower level of the north hall) of the Natural History Building (NHB), August 10 - September 25, 1946. The NCFA exhibit included about 50 specimens honoring those who contributed to the collection with their gifts. Portrait, right, is William Healey Dall by Wilford Seymour Carow, lent by the Cosmos Club. Photo features one alcove. Six paintings are visible. Busts and statues stand on three high pedestals, and there are two floor display cases.
