View from the northeast end of the National Gallery of Art (NGA), now the Smithsonian American Art Museum (SAAM), in the United States National Museum (USNM) building, now known as the Natural History Building (NHB), July 1924. Paintings fill the gallery in the foreground. Above the passageway on the left is a plaque, which reads, "The National Gallery of Art." Visible through that passageway is another gallery filled with paintings. Through that gallery a hall with statuary and paintings is visible. Through the opening on the far right can be seen a statue in a reclined position covered with a glass case. Through Statuary and paintings in the second adjoining gallery can be seen as well as more paintings in the background.
