Summary

Local members of the Smithsonian Exhibit Committee supervise packing of a "zushigame," or castle-shaped cinerary urn, one of 80 items from museum treasures to contemporary crafts in an exhibit, "Okinawa -- Continuing Traditions" part of the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service. The exhibit took place in Washington May 5-28, 1962. L to R: Mrs. Richard M. Look, Ryukyuan-American Art League; Eikichi Yamazato, chairman of the committee; Shinzan Yamada, artist; Matsutaro Kinjo, President of the Shuri Museum; Seikan Omine, artist; and Kaoru Omine, curio expert.
