Summary

This summer's blockbuster movie "Jurassic World" gave us all kinds of new hashtags and tweet-worthy images. The most popular of these was created from the shot of Chris Pratt keeping the velociraptors in line, or Prattkeeping as it has been dubbed. The Paleobiology Department at the National Museum of Natural History had the brilliant idea to stage a photo in which Curator of Dinosauria Matthew Carrano would appear to be keeping the three dinosaur specimens in line or #Prattkeeping them in line. This staged image was posted to @NMNH's Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook. In addition, @Smithsonian shared the image on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and Tumblr. The image was retweeted 2,736 times and favorited 2,256 times, making it the most popular Smithsonian tweet ever. It was also Smithsonian's most popular Instagram post, and likely the most popular Tumblr post as well. The popularity of this tweet was a huge win for NMNH, because it has reminded people of the current renovations of the fossil hall, and will hopefully keep their interests piqued for the coming years before the reopening.
