• An unidentified man holding a shark by the tail. The entire shark can be seen as it was laid out on top of barrels. Ichthyologist Isaac Ginsburg and his team captured the shark while on scientific expedition in Panama in 1935. The shark was found in the Pearl Islands and has stripes on its side.

• This photograph comes from the Isaac Ginsburg Collection, particularly of images from his 1935 trip to Panama. Ginsburg was a systematic ichthyologist at the Bureau of Fisheries, where he worked until his retirement in 1956. He specialized in fishes of the Gulf of Mexico.
