Pamela Henson interviewed Oscar Dean Kidd, along with Elizabeth Stockwell (left) and Patricia Escobar Paramo, in 1990 about Kidd's work at the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute (STRI). Kidd was born in Jamaica in 1907 and migrated to Panama in 1909, eventually settling near the Barro Colorado Island (BCI) Research Station of STRI. As a motorboat operator, Kidd became acquainted with scientists visiting BCI.
