Summary:

This accession consists of two websites and a mobile website maintained by the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory which operates the Chandra X-ray Observatory for the United States National Aeronautics and Space Administration. The Chandra X-ray Observatory website, crawled on May 29, 2015, includes information about the telescope and its mission; educational activities; x-ray astronomy field guides; images taken by Chandra (thumbnail only); and press releases. In addition, the website includes an embedded blog, but only a small portion has been captured as part of this crawl. Due to technical issues, podcasts and multimedia found in this crawl may not function properly. The mobile version of the Chandra X-ray Observatory website was also crawled on May 29, 2015. It includes similar content as the full version, but its extent is limited."LIGHT: Beyond the Bulb," crawled May 23, 2015, is an open-source international exhibition program that showcases the incredible variety of light-based science being researched today across the electromagnetic spectrum, across scientific disciplines, and across technological platforms. The Chandra X-ray Observatory and SPIE, the international society for optics and photonics, are jointly leading the program in conjunction with the International Astronomical Union for the International Year of Light 2015. The website includes information about the program and about creating or hosting an exhibition as well as an image collection. Materials are in electronic format.
