This accession consists of two websites maintained by the Office of the Chief Information Officer.The Digitization Program Office website, crawled August 27, 2014, includes information about the office and digitization projects across the Smithsonian Institution. The website also includes a blog which dates from April 2014.The "Smithsonian X 3D" website, crawled July 14, 2014, launches a set of use cases which apply various three-dimensional capture methods to iconic collection objects as well as scientific missions, indicating that this new technology has the potential not only to support the Smithsonian mission, but to transform museum core functions. The website includes information about the technology, the use of three-dimensional models in the classroom, and the 2013 Smithsonian X 3D conference. This accession does not include models or tours and, due to technical difficulties, some video may not function properly. Materials are in electronic format.
