In 1916, Jean Marjorie Deming (b. 1895) won the Richardson Latin Translation Prize and received a B.A. from University of California (in Latin, with honors). She was in her second year of Medical School at the University of California in 1922-1923 and by 1925 was an active member of the honorary biology society, Phi Sigma. The 1930 U.S. Census gives her occupation as Doctor of Medicine and indicated that she was living with her parents and siblings in Placer County, California.
