Summary

This collection contains 24 field books, four folders, two boxes, and one map by Philip Strong Humphrey, originally maintained by the Division of Birds. Dates for this material range from 1963-1973 and localities include but may not be limited to areas within Brazil such as Belem, Bahia, Para, Amapa, Rio Amapari, and Serra do Navio. Items within this collection relate to Humphrey's field work with birds, with many of them consisting of specimen lists with ranges of collection numbers and relevant specimen data. Also present within these lists are some mammal, reptile, and amphibian specimen information. Some lists are in Portuguese and are credited as the field notes of Emilio Dente, and Geraldo Pereira da Silva. There are occasional sketches, a map, and some later correspondence relating to Humphrey's collection, as well as two boxes of 5 x 7 inch cards with field notes.
