This finding aid was digitized with funds generously provided by the Smithsonian Institution Women's Committee.
Descriptive Entry
This collection consists of field notes, manuscripts, photographs, and related material of the Divisions of Vertebrate and Invertebrate Paleontology. Additional material can be found in the manuscript collections of former curators at the United States National Museum and geologists associated with the United States Geological Survey. The records of the Division of Vertebrate Paleontology (Record Units 156 and 248) should also be consulted.

FIELD NOTES, 1886-1908, 1939, AND UNDATED.This series consists of field notebooks and notes of several geologists, most of whom were working for the United States Geological Survey (USGS). Notebooks kept by Victor H. Barnett, Carpel Leventhal Breger, Herdman Fitzgerald Cleland, Gilbert D. Harris, Leopold Reinecke, Ira Sayles, and Gilbert Van Ingen resulted from field work in association with Henry Shaler Williams' study of New York and Maine fossils for the USGS (see Record Unit 7238). Also included are specimen lists.
