Charles W. Smiley (1846-1926) was educated at the Eastman National Business College and Wesleyan University, Middletown, Connecticut. He served as special agent in charge of fishery statistics for the Fisheries Division of the Tenth Census, 1879-1881, and as Editor for the United States Commission of Fish and Fisheries, 1881-1889
William V. Cox (1852-1923) was appointed special agent for the Fisheries Division of the Tenth Census in 1879. Other positions held by Cox included Assistant for the International Fisheries Exhibition in London, 1883; Financial Clerk for the exposition work of the Smithsonian Institution, 1884-1885; and Chief Clerk of the United States National Museum, 1885-1902

Historical Note

Charles W. Smiley (1846-1926) was educated at the Eastman National Business College and Wesleyan University, Middletown, Connecticut.
