Historical Note
The West European Program (WEP) of the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars (WWICS) was created in 1985 and Michael H. Haltzel was appointed its secretary. In 1988 his title changed to program secretary and in 1989, to program director. Since 1990, the job title has been director. Haltzel served until 1992 when Samuel F. Wells, Jr., took over, serving 1992- .
