Abstract

The notebook is the first of two volumes, and documents H. S. Ladd's work in Fiji during June 28 - July 18, 1934. Pages are numbered (1 - 108). Entries are dated and headed with location. They are written in the format of a series of letters to Edward (no last name listed), describing observations of the reefs and inland sites, weather, daily work, extensive descriptions of interactions with local inhabitants and colleagues (Willy, last name note indicated), shells collected, and sites where field work was completed.
