Abstract

The photograph album (Volume 1) documents Alexander Wetmore's work in Panama in 1962. Photographs are numbered, and captioned with location, description, and date. Subject matter includes observed birds, eggs, nests, and their environs; vistas and detailed images of forests, trails, and open fields; candid images of Panamanians, families, and colleagues; villages, farms, and individual structures; modes of transportation during collecting; and preparation of specimens. Locations are in the vicinity of Frijolito, La Jagua, and Los Santos. Includes photographs of Wetmore, Beatrice Thielen Wetmore, Charles O. Handley, Jr., Helena M. Weiss, and Francis Greenwell.
