Abstract

The photograph album documents Alexander Wetmore's work in Panama (Darien), 1947. Includes photographs of Wetmore, Watson M. Perrygo, James Zetek, and C. W. Quaintance. Also included are photographs of the Canal Zone Biological Area. Photographs sometimes include numbers, date, and caption with description and location. Subject matter includes terrain observed; examples of transportation between camp sites along the river; candid images of Choco Indians (individuals, families, and children) in daily activities; structures Choco villages; lodgings; Perrygo preparing specimen skins; Choco indians traveling on locally made vessels on rivers; prepared specimens.
