Abstract

The photograph album documents Alexander Wetmore's work in Panama, Costa Rica and Guatemala, 1940; Panama, 1944. Photographs sometimes include numbers, date, and caption with description and location. Includes images of vegetation and the Barro Colorado Island Laboratory; site of excavations at Finca Piedades, Costa Rica; an airplane and resulting crowd at the Liberia airport; colleagues; vegetation and terrain; countryside and shorelines; lodgings; Mayan ruins; towns and structures; Quebrada in Costa Rica; the pack of supplies moving between sites; candid scenes with military who assisted Wetmore's efforts in Panama; camp site on San Jose island, Panama. Includes photographs of Wetmore and Joseph P. E. Morrison. Includes sites in the vicinity of: Guanacaste (Costa Rica) and Pearl Islands (Panama).
