Abstract

The field notes and drawings document William Holmes' study of cenotes of Chichen Itza in Mexico during 1895. Notes several cenotes across Chichen Itza, and are headed with cenote identifier (designated "a", "b","c", or local name). Entries describe surrounding environment including its geological makeup, observations of the cenote structure and appears, as well as how the cenote functions. Many notes include detailed drawings and sketches of cenotes and the geology of the area, sometimes with annotations. Also contains field notes of Holmes' observations of the geology of the Chichen Itza district. Some notes are headed with date.
