Request permissionsDownload image PrintThis item consists of a folder of data collected at sea in 1964 by the Bureau of Commercial Fisheries (BCF) aboard the Townsend Cromwell, as part of the Pacific Ocean Biological Survey Program. The cruise covered a fixed grid to the east of the main Hawaiian Islands. Materials include: bird observation data sheets, position data (at sea survey chart B), bird abundance data (at sea survey chart A), and weather and barometric weather (at sea survey chart C). Bird observation sheets list time, species, #, dir., hgt., and remarks. At sea survey chart B lists date, position and distance data. At sea survey chart A includes abundance data for birds including total abundance and abundance of bird groups (Shearwater-Petrel-Albatross Group, Tropicbirds, etc.). At sea survey chart C includes entries for: time, lat, long, pres wea, vis, slp, dry b, dew pt, hum %, tl sky, opa sky, waves, sea temp, wind s, wind d, ship course/spd. Includes photocopied map showing route of cruise.
