Abstract

An inserted table of contents contains a full listing of localities and corresponding collector numbers. This field book contains a specimen list of botanical specimens collected by F. R. Fosberg from 24 April to 19 October 1958 on Marshall Islands, Canada, Virginia, District of Columbia, Indiana, New York, and West Virginia. Collector numbers 39420-39650 are included. Specimen list includes scientific name, date, locality, collector number, with occasional notes on locality or physical descriptions of specimens (size, color, etc.) Longer narrative notes documenting vegetation in the various localities are also included. Localities include but are not limited to: Kwajalein, Jaluit, Mejatto, Jabor, Pingelap (Marshall Islands); Timberlake, Fairfax, Shenandoah National Park; and Great Falls (Virginia). A botanical specimen in an envelope labeled "Compound stipulus of Caesalpinia from Jaluit" can be found between pages 98 and 99. A typed report on a field trip to Pine Hills, Indiana, with corresponding map can be found between pages 164 and 165. An information sheet from Rondeau Provincial Park, Ontario including map can be found between pages 170 and 171.
